Opinion:
the Tlaxcallans were the real "Aztecs"!
They are often depicted as more proudly wearing the heron-bird of "Aztlan" on their headdresses, proudly calling out their origins from "Aztlan" ("Place of the watery fowl").
I haven't seen depictions of the Mexica doing this.

It's #HispanicHeritageMonth so I thought I'd repost my Aztec #wonderwoman print again. I'm really pleased people seem to enjoy it so much. Also, I did an Aztec "inspired" #Zelda - I've got prints of both, so if you want one, message me!

In Aztec mythology, the volcanoes were once humans who were deeply in love. This legend features the warrior Popocatepetl and the princess Iztaccihuatl. The Gods, touched by the lover's plight, turn the humans into volcanoes, so that they may finally be together #FolkloreThursday
Tenoch the handsome Aztec themed Dutchie is looking extra flashy just for you! I will eventually draw all of my @DutchADs in this style. I am raffling one of these as well, look for the post on my page if interested in entering! #dutchangeldragons
The enagua and huipil are the basic items in traditional Mesoamerican women's clothes. In the next post I will share some examples from ancient codices. This is one of Renatas regalia for ceremony in Mexica dance. #aztec #mexicaheart #ancientclothes #nativeamericanart

So is it true a Mexica/Aztec person could be killed for cutting down a tree (asked by a kid in one of our school workshops)? Find out the answer here... https://t.co/Gh9mjlay6f (Image from the Florentine Codex Book XI)
Tepehua is the Tlacochcalcatl, or “Master of the House of Darts.” An Aztec general, he presides over the Tlacochcalco, the empire’s armories. As far as I can tell (still researching), he survives "Victory/Sad Night" and goes on to be the commanding general for Cuauhtemoc.
