Had some time to sit down and sketch traditionally today! 💖 So some practice, some observations, mostly fanart :’)
(+ some from an earlier date!)
Carta Marina, completed in 1539 by Olaus Magnus (1490–1557), was drawn from various cartographic sources and included monsters of the seas allegedly based on the observations of sailors who believed seeing or catching such creatures brought bad luck. #wateryfolklore
The 2019 #CityNatureChallenge kicks off this Friday! Join @NHMU on Saturday, April 27 for a bio blitz at the Fred and Ila Rose Fife Wetland Preserve to help #SaltLakeCity compete with cities around the world for most observations of urban nature! Info: https://t.co/rU8sMD7QrK
@vrnanami Uh-haha!!! Yeah! That must be it! G-great observation, Nanami—!
My research & practice looks at observation & representation in particle physics, particularly neutrinos experiments--hence why I'm visiting Fermilab! I spend a lot of time trying to understand everything that underpins data visualisations like these two.

Global glacier mass changes from 1961 to 2016: improved observations show that glaciers contributed 27 ± 22 millimetres to global mean sea-level rise, mass loss (47 Gt/yr) 18% larger than estimated in IPCC AR5.

LRTs made me realize that like. both Shiro and Keith going to the observation deck when they were upset and needed to be alone, but the other coming to them to talk, like they knew exactly where they were; they probably spent so many quiet moments together here.
Happy Bday Maria Sibylla Merian (born #OTD 1647)! Celebrate with "De Europischen insecten" (1730), a Dutch translation of Merian's earlier "Der Raupen", with #SciArt drawn from first-hand observations of insect metamorphosis. In #BHLib via @SILibraries: https://t.co/xm9wccrUi4
Howdy! I'm Sev - a NB artist and I am in love with mountains and post apocalypse and wolves and space! I mostly concentrate on observational illustration and narrative/comics. Sometimes shit is hard but I ain't giving up! Happy #TDOV
Some years ago I drew a horse for a game I was working in that time, everyone say it's super hard and blah blah, but it's just observation and learning how muscles works :P
The subject of today's #oneweekonecomic thread of observations, speculations and celebrations is @79SemiFinalist/@ItsVeronicaFish/@AndyTFish's SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH #1. (Pretty much spoiler-free, this week.)
“By focusing attention, observation, and extensive thought on astronomical phenomena, one is able to prove the unicity of God and to recognize the extent of the Creator’s might as well as His wide wisdom and delicate design.”

"Erucarum ortus" (1718) is a Latin translation of Maria Sibylla Merian's 2nd work, "Raupen wunderbare Verwandelung", depicting first-hand observations of insect life cycles & their food plants. See it in #BHLib via @LloydLibraryMus ➡️ https://t.co/iFcktbZ4vt #HerNaturalHistory
