For his 2002 Captain Marvel (Genis-Vell) design, Alex Ross combined the starfield effect with classic Kree uniform which first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes (1967). Ross also emphasized the Spartan soldier influences of that classic Kree uniform.

Style 1 - Pretty cartoony with some anime influences

Style 2 - A little angular with some cuteness to it.
