I've received questions from many people about a certain character in my comic, Daisy. Initially, I just designed her as a minor character, but if many people are interested, she might have a role in the future.
also, of course you don't NEED a fleshed out background to have good character illustrations. some of the principles of basic graphic design and backgrounds coincide! a lot of my ZZZ work relies on simple yet non-intrusive bg elements that aren't structural
