I’ve been trying to boost arty knowledge a bit and try things out, this is actually a colour piece but been using a black/white gradient map to gauge the contrast and tone. Was really interesting :3

In the added scenes from the anime there was an instant where Roger and Whitebeard were just clashing repeatedly
The lightning was black so it wasn't as powerful as the first one
I won't say it's necessarily consistent but the Black/Red/White is really cool

So in vol 2, as beautiful as the colours are (I *love* that blue/purple/pink combo!!), it can evoke danger and uncertainty—

Especially with the purple gradient to red at the bottom, calling to mind fire and thus peril.

Plus Xin Mo’s energy is also depicted as purple/black/red.
