Now, Galarian Rapidash is cute and all, but I still can't help but wish it had gotten a design a little more in line with what you'd find in heraldry

TIL: Jousting was medieval professional wrestling

In the 14th & 15th centuries, it became popular to make a 'fantasy persona' for jousting tournaments (think the whole Black Knight/Green Knight idea)

This is where battle-impractical horned helmets as seen on heraldry were worn!

Hi I'm Abi. I make colourful digital illustrations and I love researching historical art like heraldry, still life symbolism and stained glass, and including references in my modern style.

To be precise it is the only heraldry BA has. The arms on the 747’s tail are those lawfully granted to the corporation in 1975 by Garter, Clarenceux and Norroy & Ulster Kings of Arms.

Note the compartment of land and water and the winged supporters.

Occasionally I like to think I could totally draw heraldry if I had the time and patience. Those damn scribes, making it look way easier than it actually is. 🙃

A Archives crest design to wind down before bed 💤🦉

The Arms of The Fishmongers' Company - one of the oldest companies in London (1272). I worked with Malcolm Gilbertson & to create this illustration of their Arms as a part of a larger rebranding project for the company.

No huge visual updates, but that's the barony-level markers and roads done for the central kingdom on this map! A lot of labels left to do, but I'm slowly but surely getting this one done!
Thinking I'll do a bunch of heraldry to fill up that empty space on the left.
