Ok I'm realizing about 30 minutes later that the guy on the cover of Volume 4 is Dr. Tenma and that's why I asked why we haven't seen him.

I guess my subconscious put two and two together before I could actually realize what was going on.

Verdict on the "do your lineart in a bright color and darken after" strategy? Do it. Absolutely do it. I even subconsciously made the lineart more detailed as a result and it looks freaking awesome. Plus it's such a cool surprise when you darken the lines.
