-I blur it or erase the eyes’ lineart, I always put the pupil black or almost black so it doesnt get lost when I shade, when shading the eye I use a darker tone of it on top and also to outline for contrast (everything on the same layer but the pupil)-

I'm playing with unity's shader lab. I tried to fetch the texture while downloading and change the color with the shader or give an outline. I don't really understand the format, but it's fun! It's often dyed pink.

All the steps so far were done in Photoshop. With the art defined, I can proceed to vector it in Illustrator: pasting the jpg in a low opacity layer and using the pen tool to outline all of the shapes over it. Next, just need to color they all according to the ref!

Spent some time reworking the starter sprites from Pokemon Red and Blue. I mainly focused on:
1. Using black beyond just outlines (deeper shading)
2. Texture and shape clarity (Squirtle's tail especially)
3. Nicer clusters that follow light source
