Excellent sky last night - redid M51, M63, M101 with UVIR filter to compare with LPro from last week. More detail, less colour. Gradients OK. Still needed high gain. Went on to chase down NGC3521 in Leo and Hicksons.

Was talking with a friend about some simple ways to "spice up" a pic and made some examples about how just using some quick and simple gradients for shading and highlight layers can do wonders for a vibe.

yeah the covers are always darker in person
i remember seeing Boutarou's cover online and it having this bi flag gradient in the water and then when I got the book in my hands the blue parts look black in everything other than BRIGHT lighting
