@MagitekDad If these sprites don't look this way because of AI upscaling to a higher resolution, as the sharp vertical cut-offs suggest, then it's somehow worse because that means a pixel artist intentionally produced something this ugly, fuzzy outline and all.

on the topic of old work, I stumbled across some old old OLD Mega Man 7 sprites with my first ever MM7 style sprite ever.
I don't know why it was Blade Man of all characters but whatever. I also made a V2 and then V3 a year after the original was made, around 2011/12

Fun fact, design elements from the Soul Catcher are pulled from old sprites for the Save Points in a video game I was working on set in the same universe. The gold ones were like the special versions that you could fast travel to/heal at. These sprites are from like 2+ yrs ago
