I made the base design of the guy all the way in 2014, then redesigned him a bit in 2017, then reintroduced him again in 2020. I have a special attachment to the fella, because he really captures the scale of the setting.

This was the final Orbak design where we went with a long coat. The face was intended to be a mask with the horse looking through the nostrils. But a change in the shooting schedule meant we ended up replacing the face digitally.

Orbak concept for We needed to find solutions to make the real horses alien without compromising movement so tried different ways to alter the silhouette with fabrics or hair, leaving the head/face to be replaced digitally.
