Jacob Grimm, the German philologist, jurist & folklorist, was born #OTD in 1785. He & his brother Wilhelm first collected folk songs & tales for their friend Achim von Arnim. It was Arnim who encouraged them to publish their collected fairy tales as Kinder- und Hausmärchen.
