At one time, my hobby was watching western paintings, so I always went to museums. The intention was to nurture the eyes to see the painting. I wanted stimulation. I like Claude Monet, Rubens and Renoir.
This is the Ferdinand I drew last year.

A study of hands. The varnish has yellowed, but you can see the streaks of grey on the gesso - a technique of Rubens - it adds depth to sheer glazes. Opaque whites come forward, shadows recede (sheer darks).
