Vinicius and Tom (2016 Rio Summer Olympics)

These two are chimeras of sorts - Vinicius is meant to collectively represent Brazil's fauna, and Tom its flora. They were designed (and animated) by Brazilian animation company Birdo, who were inspired by cartoons like Adventure Time.

Look, I like classic scaly-bat-wing dragons, but I want mine to be these ethereal creatures, almost synonymous with angels & aliens. They're chimeras not just of animals, but of concepts.

Tried designing these on the fly, on gut feeling.

I realized I never gave these drawings their own post: some dragon concepts for a personal project. I was focused on the idea that dragons should be like chimeras, but I figured I shouldn't go too far that people couldn't read "dragon" from it. Trying to find an in-between!
