One of the things we see in the charts from yesterday is the eventual lessening of armour around the 1600s.
Some say this is due to the effectiveness of crossbows, but crossbows were common by the 12th century.
A more likely culprit is early firearms; the hand cannon or arquebus.

It's certainly unlikely that the audio recording was made after 2012. As for Ryan's involvement, the MGS Ground Zeroes demo was released in 2012 and fictional guns began to be used, so it's odd that the names of the firearms are being openly mentioned in 2013 DGN.

In an earlier point of Sonic Triple Trouble, Nack was intended to have a real gun that he would have shot at Sonic with.

He would get his gun back in Sonic the Fighters, but it would be censored as a pop gun.

In the Archie Comics, Nack carries legitimate firearms.
