Mike Mignola’s layouts impress me. No fancy tricks. Mostly using deceptively simple looking grids, he always creates interesting balance and flow between panel sizes. His use of “mood” panels and fearless amounts of negative space is impressive. A truly masterful storyteller.

Yes! I can't stress how important perspective grids are to environments, esp architectural ones. I almost always set one up! I like setting it up on procreate, then I draw the basic shapes as rectangles and such. After, I import it to PS & go over the basic shapes for the sketch

A “fun” way to appreciate grids/lenses/perspective is to possibly imagine different performances in the shot.. try imagining Kiki and her dad dancing around in a circle.. how much bigger would they get while walking in z depth? How deep would you draw a square on the floor?
