Freeza makes it sound like the Ginyu Force are actually on Planet Freeza, although of course this is long before Toriyama thought up Yardrat. If we ignore their anime-only departure scene, we could say Appule contacts Planet Freeza who then contact the Ginyu Force on Yardrat

Day 2 (December 19th): Zarbon beats Vegeta and takes him back to Freeza’s ship for healing and questioning. Freeza (via Appule) puts in a call for the Ginyu Force, who are due in 5 days. Kuririn+Dende are 5 hours away from the Great Elder, but decide to sleep first.

In fact, the Daizenshuu timeline has Vegeta’s healing finish on December 13th, over three weeks after he began on November 21st. What’s that about? The assumption seems to be that it must take Vegeta 5 days to reach Namek, since that’s how long the Ginyu Force take to arrive.
