Process breakdown:

I start with a generated output that gives the block out of composition and colors, and then in Photoshop I fix the broken parts (like his knees) & then collage several elements in with digital overpaint to combine and add finer details.

i think i figured it out a bit, you have to make a symbol on top of the drawing and outline the shading with the light parts and set the symbol effects to blur on high quality with like 20 pixels or larger/smaller depending on the size of the drawing, then set blending to "add"
