I've used the AI-produced DALL-E-picture (left) as a starting point for a real painting. When cleaning the pic, the wrong proportions become more obvious than in the original "expressionistic" style, but still it came out quite cute.🥰

Characters are young adults, but much older than the gaang. Their eyes are much smaller and much closer to realistic proportions which give them an older appearance. It’s even the same for adults in ATLA. Their facial proportions are much less exaggerated making them look older

I paint by soft shading indivudal portions of lineart and making sure I'm aware that dark shadows and light shadows create distinct parts. If you get this effect it means you can easily paint out the line art later. It's cell shading with extra steps.

there are models that look like 10 years old but their height is like 18 years old
