London illustrator Charles Robinson was the son of an illustrator, his two brothers were also illustrators (one was William Heath Robinson) He secured a place to study at The Royal Academy but hadn't enough money to attend. This is his Red Riding Hood c. 1910

Growing up in a family of male siblings, I much preferred the story of the kind, devoted and resourceful sisters in Snow White and Rose Red, to Snow White. I adore the child like simplicity and naïve realism of the illustrations of Felicitas Kuhn-Klapschy.
