Robert Gibson Jones (1889-1969) was the original Steve Rogers. Rejected during WW I as well as WW II as unfit for duty, he worked as a commercial artist in the 20s and 30s. In 1943 he began a new career: pulp cover artist!
After I rejected that plan, I drew a human with a concealed face as a chaser (left). But I really didn't find this attractive. I finally designed a human with a big pyramid helmet as an arbiter or executioner (My boss & some members of the team didn't like it so much though).
Don't think I've posted this here. Bonus: Progress shots from the initial sketch to the final. Not sure how or when I decided to change the mood from dejected/worried to grouchy but I did. Either moods fits this character.
