The animation was mostly by Toei, but the original illustrator of "The American Rabbit" was Stuart Moskowitz. He's USian but his cute animal characters were "Big in Japan" and he made a bunch of mascots for Jp companies. So yeah I think I made a big brain connection here

To start things off, the inspiration for Clover, when redesigning him at least, was from a bunch of those "Kool and edgy video game mascots" from the '90s. As for his design, it was partially inspired by NiGHTS. This is also the reason why he's not a human being.
