Still on Procreate, I didn't want to go heavy on lineart yet. I wanted to give it a painted feel so I focus on rendering shapes, values, light and shadow. I had already spent some hours on Pinterest searching for reference materials for the armor, shield, dragon and sword.

#WIP Tonight's progress on Gigi. Mainly refined shapes, muscles and features, getting the likeness closer. I'm combining a facial expression reference with a different body reference, and had to make some adjustments for the angle of the head to avoid anatomical mistakes.

This isn't the case if you step back into the late 90s, when paint-on-cel was still a thing, and digital shape tools weren't as heavily in use. The PPG are constructed from *very* circular shapes, but none of them are math-perfect (because someone had to hand-draw them)
