My stuff is a bit of an outlier here I think - I draw a monthly D&D webcomic, going on for two happy years now 😊

I try to mimic the look of animation, with cel-shaded anime style characters on somewhat speedpainted backgrounds.

No offense to anyone, but considering I use cel/toon shading on all my art, you'd honestly have to be pretty fucking stupid to color-pick from the very obviously shaded areas on my character refs. https://t.co/d2ekqfzY4k

I know its a lot of detail. Some tips, tho I cel shade so im no expert.

I think knowing where shadows and lights should have harsh cut-offs vs where they should have a gradient would help. Also: darkest part of a shadow isnt the always the furthest from the light.
