The ofris are a humanoid plant race I created. No two ofris look alike because each mimics a member of another race. Tahu, for example, looks like a goblin.
Love how @wyrmboners captured a floral version of Fuseli's "The Nightmare" between Tahu and a hobgob.
FUSELI'S PUCK (c.1790) has bat wings rather than butterfly wings; his enchantments are far from innocent. The other fairies flee in this image where he is full of movement. He boasts he can 'put a girdle round the earth in forty minutes' (MSND) #FairyTaleTuesday #GothicFairies
An Alp is a supernatural being in German folklore. It is sometimes likened to a vampire, but its behavior is more akin to that of the incubus. The word Alp is the German form of the word that comes into English as 'elf'.

THE MIDGARD SERPENT or Jörmungandr. Offspring of the giantess Angrboða & Loki, so huge that its coils stretch right around the world. When Thor baits it with an ox head Jörmungandr vomits poison & blood before sinking back into the sea #WateryFolklore

@MrEwanMorrison I love Fuseli, but this is my favoutite paint, a nightmare
Dreams by Henry Fuseli (1741-1825). Obsessed with dreams & the supernatural, his style influenced many younger British artists, including William Blake. In the 20th century, Fuseli's nightmare paintings were interpreted as anticipating Freudian ideas about the subconscious.
@FernRiddell @WhoresofYore Which reminds me... February 7th is Henry Fuseli's birthday

Sarpedon, son of Zeus, was slain in the Trojan War. A struggle took place for the possession of his body until Apollo rescued it from the Greeks, washed it, anointed it with ambrosia, and handed it over to Hypnos and Thanatos to be buried.
