ok I'm no graphical design artist but I think I figured out why yosuke bothers me so much. Look at how much screen he takes up compared to Chie and Kanji. He's wider and taller. This makes his neck stand out even more than usual.

In JP, the game takes place in Japan, the girls name is "Aki", her shark OC is named "Sango" and her fluffear OC's name stays the same but gets Kanji. Otherwise it takes place in America, her name is "Ashley", and the shark is "Coral". Localization!
