I took a game demo for "The Messenger" (coming to Switch & Steam) and I honestly think it's gonna be this year's Shovel Knight.

Such an incredibly ambitious action platformer with great art, lots of smart nods to retro games, and a ton of charm & humor.

I big reason I think Mario has so much staying power is that, while he's usually remembered as a plumber, he's very much meant to be as diverse as possible in whatever he does. I think that Dr. Mario was the first major Mario game that wasn't a platformer.
