If we're talking about rendering limitations from this era, here's more:

The PS1 didn't support floating-point numbers, which made 3D objects look "a bit jittery," and it didn't use a depth-buffer, so triangles could NEVER intersect correctly (watch the shoulder on the left)

MML is 20 years old, eh? 20 years old....Makes me miss games like this and Tail Concerto....Seriously, if you love the gameplay style of MML, you'll really want to find and try out Tail Concerto, it's one of my favorite PS1 games of all time. I love these character designs.
