Copic Marker-like brush + paper overlay really helps with this.

Having to lay down multiple strokes to get cel shading + paper texture helps make it feel like it was drawn traditional — or at least sorta close to it! (Close up for details ~)

Some progress :) Same deal as level 1: 50% of the background tiles are fixed for the entire level and each screen uses 25% of them so I can alternate and have more unique tiles for the stage. Krusty impersonator has a single sprite overlay on the face.
