Though they have terrifying appearances and eating habits, they're actually quite intelligent and non-aggressive to researchers.

Chione was the goddess of snow in Greek mythology. She was a daughter of Boreas, god of the wintry north wind. She was also the consort of Poseidon, god of the sea, & mother of Eumolpus who she threw into the sea (it's ok, Poseidon rescued him)

A yuki-onna only appears on snowy nights. This inhuman entity has blue lips, black & very long hair, & pale (often transparent) skin. She can be very beautiful with the ability to shapeshift into fog or snow, floating above it, she leaves no tracks.

A Japanese folk tale tells of Yuki-onna, a beautiful snow ghost described as having white skin, long black hair and wearing a white kimono. She blows on her unwary victims freezing them to death & then sucks out their souls through their mouths.
