used my very good printing paper to print this self-indulgent painting and! i don’t usually print on matte paper bc it kills my colors but in this case it makes my brushestrokes rly stand out. god i love it. and them 😭

Even when painting digitally, I still want you to see my brushstrokes and even a little linework. Respect to people who approach rendering with photorealism, but there's something about seeing the impressionistic strokes in a rendering that says 'hey someone painted this!'

I did a super...speed background with simple colors/strokes to test some stuff for Sugar Free's backgrounds!! It's a nice test, gonna do more in depth stuff later but this took me like 10-15 minutes? I like it!

I use colored pencils, and making everything smooth is very tough! For one thing, the tooth (roughness) of the paper can give you lots of white spots. My best advice is:

- Use smaller strokes/circles in at least three directions.
- Color over it thoroughly with lighter tones.
