Anyway I tried out csp v. 2’s auto shade feature whilst I was working on Byleth for fun - I was pleasantly surprised.

I think it strikes a nice balance between doing enough to be a good reference but not enough to do it all for you

The layers are unmerged, the patterns aren't adjusted properly because I need to do that in Live2D to not make my life hard, it needs to be split into left and right, and CSP doesn't support transparent clip players, BUT THE ART ASSETS ARE DONE.
