2. Run DD on init, mess with prompt till happy enuf, make tons of batches. 3. take batches into photoshop, meld, blend, improve.

I learned quite a lot about 3D in the process.

Mainly:
Photoshop is really not great for 3D, but it does have a few pretty cool options for integration of 3D objects into your scenes.
