one time in a photography class in highschool, we had to learn how to draw hands for our thumbnails. we were told to start off with an angular base (pic 1) and just smooth it out with softer lines. idk but that really helped me and i got so much better with drawing hands

In pixelart you have to not contradict what pixels "want" to be doing. They want to be in straight or equally stepped lines. 1:1, 1:2 etc. Anything else looks weird.

This is the hex type I prefer.

Don't be afraid to color your lines. Find a color that goes with the ton of that image and use it. you can make adjustments to suit what you're going for.
