Day 33: Artemisia Gentileschi, David with the Head of Goliath, 1638-39. Oil on canvas, Private collection. The newest addition to Artemisia’s oeuvre, the artist's signature was discovered during restoration. It seems seems to have painted when the artist was briefly in England.
Love this idea of celebrating #MaryMagdalene too, today! Not to detract from Coignet, but we contribute representations of the Magdalene by #womenartists in different media: #LuisaRoldan; #CaterinadeJulianis; #ArtemisiaGentilesci; & #AnnaMariaVaiani. #HappyEaster https://t.co/axgLZE3DGF
You want more chiaroscuro, you say?! 🌘 In the absence of the #Artemisia exhibition, due to open at @NationalGallery this week but now postponed, we give you - Judith Slaying Holofernes by Artemisia Gentileschi @UffiziGalleries.

Day 12: Artemisia Gentileschi, Jael and Sisera, 1620. Oil on canvas. Szépmüvészeti Múzeum, Budapest. In this rare biblical subject, heroine Jael kills sleeping Canaanite general Sisera by driving a tent stake through his head. Artemisia signed her name on the plinth behind.
@LydiaRFiges @artukdotorg @AwareWomenArt @womensart1 Good to see art by #AgnesPringle & #EdmoniaLewis in the Cleopatra story. Here are more Cleopatra images by #womenartists: 2 by #ArtemisiaGentileschi (private collections; there are others); 1 ea by #LaviniaFontana (@galleriaspada) & one by #ElisabettaSirani (@TheFIA) #artherstory
Day 4: Artemisia Gentileschi, Mary Magdalene in Ecstasy, oil on canvas (Private collection). This painting was done in Rome either c. 1610-12, when she was a teenager, or a decade. Either way, it's a powerful response to Caravaggio’s lost version (known through copies).

Artemisia Gentileschi or Artemisia Lomi $19.99 Amazon T-shirts https://t.co/ninkOmXra0 (1593-1656) was an Italian painter, one of the finest in the post Caravaggio era. She was the first female member of a Florence artistic academy and had an international clientele.
Absinthe Artemisia is the character I play in our D&D campaign and podcast, Through The Balcony ( https://t.co/3qtYKOYMKU ). They have family issues, an impending apocalypse, and are quite possibly the least horny bard in existence. Come listen! #dnd
Sketch of Italian Baroque painter, #ArtemisiaGentileschi, in honour of #InternationalWomensDay . I’ve often wanted to draw her, to capture the righteous fury in her eyes. Given what she went through in life.

#InternationalWomensDay2020 #IWD2020 Voilà 4 women artists whose work deserves recognition. They toiled in the shadow of their male contemporaries. Everybody knows Frida Kahlo, have you heard of Helen Frankenthaler, Artemisia Gentileschi, Berthe Morisot & Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun?
