Both Agnimon and Vritramon are half of Ancient Greymon, and their types are "Demon man type" [魔人型] and "Demon dragon type" [魔竜型]. Oni are demons/ogres in japanese folklore.
And we can't forget about Greymon and Ogremon rivalry in Adventure 2020.

One series goes the route of creating the ultimate Saiyan form by means of controlling the roots of Saiyan power, whereas the other creates it by merging the two most famous legends of Saiyan folklore.

Morty with a Magnamalo. Magnamalo is based on something from the japanese folklore (I guess it's a dead samurai). Morty is the Gym leader specialized into the Johto Folklore. Plus, they both have the colour purple and Magnamalo's general appareance would be a nod to the 3 beasts
