So I'm back from camping. It was very rainy, so I only got a little lilac postcard done for my mom. *sighs* The little light yellow splotches are actually a shiny golden color, but it doesn't scan well.

For the coloration, I looked at a bunch of arboreal reptile species, large and small. It's harder than I thought to give it the loose, splotchy look of reptile coloration without losing the semblance of an actual pattern.

the only way to see how a certain paper will take watercolors is to just try it out. Sometimes I just dab some paint splotches on and sometimes I dive in and do a little painting like this one.
