Hijikata and his characterization is some of the best but also some of the most subtle in Gintama. It beautifully parallels not only Gintoki’s story but also the larger themes in Gintama most importantly creating one’s own brand of bushido he can be proud of.

Oh yeah, the image changes between two images, one for day and one for night. made a lot of the day image first and I did my subtle additions to that, leading to the night side, which shows more of my drawing, with a lot of interactions with the other side
