The Twilight Gate, 2020
The Twilight Gate was envisioned as a companion piece to The Waning Passage. I imagined the glistening crystal in this piece as an analogue to the crescent moon in the latter piece, illuminated only by the light of the setting sun.
For the longest time I thought maya was a dummy and was trying to make a circle around the sun with her fingers but missed horribly, and I only just realized now that she’s actually just holding the sun.
I guess I’m the dummy in the end.
