So, I am learning through this practice. Getting more comfortable with seeing form and trying to render it. Grayscale helps a ton. Execution lacks a ton where I lack experience - especially in later steps with layer modes.

Gonna try highlights in grayscale too, next.

Sometimes I have to test out the colors with the grayscale before advancing more on shading the body. Heads tend to be a good place to test if the shadows will work with a certain color scheme. At least to me! XD

i usually dont do grayscale to color when i painted a few years ago but it kinda works for me (this is from february i hadnt painted in at least a year until this)

^ w ^ this is literally the fastest portrait i did. the oil painting process really is wow. it usually takes me 4 hours to paint a grayscale portrait. so this was fun and helpful to me.
