Anglo-American painter John Singleton Copley was born #onthisday in 1738 - Singleton Coply is perhaps most famous for his portrait paintings, one of which is depiction of Richard Heber from 1782, part of the Paul Mellon art collection at @YaleBritishArt https://t.co/YyEYqDkXtA
Henry Pelham with his pet flying squirrel, painted by his half-brother John Singleton Copley in 1760. The 18th century was the golden age of squirrel ownership - and they were the most popular pet in Colonial America, lavished with golden chains & the best nuts.
