Should I keep my messy lines (more typical to my art) or should I aim for cleaner ones?

No no, no one's said that, it's just an internalised fear of mine. Recently I went from my cleaner style of colouring, to adding more 'unusual' tones within my work.

left - old style, with 'clean' colouring.
right - new style, featuring a range of colours.
