⏪ a very early test on Crypto boy. At the time I poorly modeled a Rubik's cube just to explore the idea of some sort of puzzly device that would control HACK. Later this prop would become much more unique thanks to our awesome art department. You gotta start somewhere 😅

Phenakistiscope was an early animation device. Here are 4 disks dating from 1833. The viewer would spin the disks and view the animation through a small slit reflected on a mirror.

had a deep appreciation for flowers as his parents produced large floral gardens. Bouquets became central aesthetic devices for him enabling him to expand his color sense in painting them. The number & range of his flower still-lives are remarkable in quantity & quality.

I'll recommend two. One is Queen Merelda from Wario Land. Chosen because she is a useless plot device in the game and isn't even desired by Wario. He literally tosses her away at the end. One man's trash, as the saying goes... The other is Miss America from Coonskin. 'Nuff said.

Z activated her cloaking device to hide them from the unknown enemy, as they landed through a office building window.

“I think we’ll be safe here.”

Deactivating her cloak, she checked to make certain Kurtis wasn’t harmed

“I’m glad to see you’re unscathed. I’m often a target—“ https://t.co/E7rjoJ2ZYx

graphic novel bits: yeah, TOTALLY planned for that lighting to act as a directional device 👀

(this is basically my shameless love letter to that office scene in volume one of blacksad. to say that book had an impact on me is... an understatement)
