this is my problem. she's not grounded, and with the way her torso is facing it doesn't even look like she just leapt up to beat your face in. it's focused on 'dainty' because its 'feminine'

The domed shape at the belly is a normal feature on historical knight armor. It allowed for better deflection of attacks towards the torso. The plate actually extends away from the actually stomach of the wearer to allow for padding from blows.
