I kinda messed up my stylised head sculpt (didn't keep backups of different mesh parts...). Gonna challenge myself to try and sculpt a bust of my DND character, Grench, instead.
Just gotta make a front and side reference and some refining because this is what I have...
The mesh is actually deceptively simple! Simplifying a shape but keeping the details and silhouette is the real difficulty. The outlines of the dome are three layers of nestled inverted shells. Each metroid is 185 tris.

@Onikumomaru it only happens when i turn off backface culling. When I do custom normals on my models, my outline mesh I use with inverted hull always ends up fucked lol. This is how it should look

There will be a time when I return to shape work. Not quite sure when because I’m having too much fun with strictly freehand work. Goal is to eventually find a mesh of the two styles that I am happy with. Still working on it. Maybe I’ll release a shape work series on exchange🤔
