Anne Pratt (1806-1893): English botanical & ornithological illustrator. Her works are in an accurate style that was partly responsible for the popularising of botany in her day. Her books sold well, but she was not acclaimed due to bourgeois disdain for autodidactic women.

Sydney Parkinson (c. 1745-1771): Scottish botanical illustrator & natural history artist; the first European artist to visit Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti (1768). He had to work in difficult conditions: in Tahiti, he was plagued by swarms of flies eating paint as he worked.
Louise von Panhuys (1763-1844): Germanic botanical artist and landscape painter. She went to Surinam and created volumes of botanical specimens; mainly, she painted watercolours of plant specimens, with attention to scientific accuracy.

Hey 👋 how are you doing? Here’s a little sketch from last night. I really enjoyed playing with these colours, definitely a palette to come back to I think 🤓 Hope you’re all safe and well 💛✨

No lifting the pen from the paper, no pencil first or eraser to correct "mistakes" and no thinking. It's so much fun. Here are some cherry blossoms. They're everywhere right now and they make me feel happy. ❤️ #botanicalart #QuarantineLife
I spent today editing old botanical illustrations into what I suppose is my first OCs of any fandom ever. House Alium! Call them cocsonas, crocsonas, whatever, but they are a small family of ONIONS @dimension20show #Dimension20 #ACrownofCandy #CrownofCandy
Though Henri Rousseau depicted distant locales, he never set foot outside France. His visionary paintings were informed by photographs and visits to the Paris zoo and botanical gardens.
You can see the precision of his work in "The Waterfall." What details grab your attention?
