It's just the size of the pen that was used. We went for something like Toei Sonic which uses a different size pen compared to FNF.
Although, I would suggest Nick, maybe add some shading to Sonic. I mean, look at CG.

I don't think I ever shared it myself but a fan mod of Sonic Riders by @SonicRidersComp was having a character contest and I entered Vyse from Skies of Arcadia. We won't know who won till the next big update but it was fun nonetheless.
