One of the best tips I use is to check the values of your finished piece in greyscale. This is so you can make sure a piece is balanced w/ lighting

One of the most valuable painting techniques I ever learned was called "blocking." Cover the canvas with colors/values as early as possible. That way, whenever you choose to stop, the painting is already "done." You're just adding more and more detail until you're satisfied.

‘Art Tip - To test for good Value Range . Take a photo of painting & turn it into a monotone photo. Values should work in grey scale.

Sketch I did of some Wonder Woman cosplay by Kilory back in 2019. Kept the values pretty light in this one, really like the effect it has on the piece. I think I could have done better with my use of hard edges though - everything feels a little too soft and uncertain.
