Some titanic moments from The Silmarillion, published 45 years ago: Music of the Ainur, Kinslaying at Alqualondë, rescue of Maedhros from Thangorodrim, + Fingolfin's Challenge to Morgoth. Art: Anna Kulisz, Ted Nasmith, Rick Ritchie, + John Howe.

Fingolfin, again. This drawing didn't really turn out like I wanted, but I had to switch to another computer and another drawing software midway, so I had to relearn everything and it kind of shows^^'

Howe's compositions are so good. One of my all time favorite scenes from the Silmarillion, rarely has good art (imo) because they always take 1 metaphor and blow it out of proportion (Morgoth looming like a mountain or something) but Howe's "fingolfin's challenge" is amazing

Can we all appreciate how Fingolfin takes Morgoth in a one-on-one duel and not only manages to hold his own, but also wounds Morgoth to the point he's left crippled?

No official artwork, but he is described. This is a depiction of him in his duel against Fingolfin, High King of the Noldor and half-brother of Fëanor, the creator of the Silmarils.
