While I work on my piece for #IslandFaunaWeek, here's a few past drawings of island fauna, extinct and extant. From top left, Hatzegopteryx, Magyarosaurus, Compsognathus, Eryon, Pterodactylus, Dinornis (giant moa) and Strigops (kakapo)
i have decided that long-necked pterosaurs like quetzalcoatlus and hatzegopteryx are easily the most terrifying "dinosaurs" that ever existed
they are SO surreal and unsettling to look at
@Paracelsus1092 Makes me think of this giant pterosaur species Hatzegopteryx which lived on an island together with dwarf dinosaurs and is speculated to have been the apex predator of it's ecosystem.
Similar case of a stork-like island giant hunting island dwarfs.
Hit us up with your scariest dinosaur or pterosaur ... Here's ours:
Hatzegopteryx ("Hațeg basin wing") is a genus of azhdarchid pterosaur found in the late Maastrichtian deposits of the Densuş Ciula Formation, an outcropping in Transylvania, Romania.

Hatzegopteryx and Eurazhdarcho from the Hateg Formation! I wanted to paint a nice blue beach, I never did it before. It was fun to do. Hope you like it :)
The Quetzalcoatlus and the Hatzegopteryx are the best pterosaurs and no one can change my mind.
Also while I'm currently freshing up my knowledge (and actually already learnt some cool new stuff) behold this Hatzegopteryx I made in 2012 (and cringe at the enormous amount of subsurf I used)
@Lord_Kristine Leaf slugs, Omnidens, Hatzegopteryx, and Epidexipteryx all look straight out of a fantasy/sci-fi novel.

By c 2015 it had become obvious that some giant #azhdarchids - like Hatzegopteryx from Romania - were also 'thick necked'. This has major implications for behaviour and feeding behaviour. Our 2017 paper on this appeared in @thePeerJ .... https://t.co/azYXQCldHo
Hatzegopteryx was a large, robust azhdarchid pterosaur who most definitely preyed on probably anything it could seize with its beak with! Though bones are currently only known from Romania (Hateg), it is possible that they roamed throughout other parts of the world!
@Hylianola @Extinct_AnimaIs Dr. @MarkWitton drew one with a giraffe for scale is that what you mean? The composition of that one inspired me to want to put the big three (from left: Aramborgiania, Quetzalcoatlus, Hatzegopteryx) together to highlight their size.
I wanted to share all my #sixdinoarts in one spot, so here are the first four! Clockwise from the top left, the species are Hatzegopteryx, Stegosaurus, Inostrancevia, and Barbourofelis!
Back with another #sixdinoarts! Slowly making my way through the topics, but heres #hatzegopteryx, suggested by @mPSyN6lyJIsatYq! I had fun figuring out a more elaborate scene, and one that showed them as opportunistic feeders in addition to the classic "eats small dino" pose.
Did some short story sketches to enjoy the sunny afternoon. This is Vaskalamaldus the Raven King, antagonist of my first Tales of Kaimere short story, Death Walks on Broken Wings:
